4 | SPAIN AND PORTUGAL Day 1º (Sun): Country of Origin Departure on an intercontinental flight bound for Ma- drid. Day 2º (Mon): Madrid Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Free time to have our first contact with the city, stroll through its avenues and promenades. In the late afternoon, optionally we will take a tour of illuminated Madrid (during the spring and summer, due to late sunset, visits will still be made in daylight) and the surroundings of Plaza Mayor where we can taste the delicious tapas in one of the numerous taverns (Tapas dinner and night tour included in the Plus Package P+) . Return to the hotel. Accommodation. Day 3º (Tue): Madrid Buffet breakfast. Departure to visit the city and its main monuments and modern Madrid. In the afternoon, we suggest taking an optional excursion to the neighbor- ing imperial city of Toledo, strolling through its streets, soaking in its medieval atmosphere, visiting its splendid cathedral, and exploring the works of El Greco. (Visit to Toledo with lunch included in the Plus Package P+) . Accommodation. Day 4º (Wed): Madrid / Segovia / Ávila / Salamanca (272 Km) Buffet breakfast and departure to Segovia, where we can admire its magnificent aqueduct. Continue to Ávila to admire its intact walls before reaching Salamanca, the university city. In the afternoon, a visit to the city and its historic center with great monumental beauty. (Typical dinner included in the Plus Package P+) . Tonight, we recommend strolling through its Plaza Mayor where we will experience the lively atmosphere of the city. Ac- commodation. Day 5º (Thu): Salamanca / Santiago de Compostela (434 Km) Breakfast and departure to Santiago de Compostela, a worldwide pilgrimage center devoted to Apostle Santia- go. In the afternoon, guided tour of the city, including its magnificent Plaza del Obradoiro and splendid cathedral. Accommodation in Santiago. (Dinner included in the Plus Package P+) . (On some departures, overnight stay may be in Vigo) . Day 6º (Fri): Santiago / Viana do Castelo / Porto (294 Km) Buffet breakfast. Departure to the Rías Baixas to con- tinue our route towards Portugal. We will visit the town of Viana do Castelo, at the mouth of the Limia River. Continue to Porto, the capital of northern Portugal, on the banks of the Douro River. Accommodation. Day 7º (Sat): Porto Buffet breakfast. In the morning, a visit to the city, one of the most beautiful and prosperous in the country, known worldwide for its wines. Optionally, we offer a boat ride and visit of one of its wineries ( (Lunch, boat and winery included in the Plus Package P+) . Free af- ternoon. Accommodation. Day 8º (Sun): Porto / Aveiro / Fátima / Lisbon (341 Km) Buffet breakfast and departure to Aveiro, the ‘City of Canals’ and the Portuguese Venice. Continue to Fátima, one of the pilgrimage centers of Christianity. Free time to visit the basilica and have lunch (Lunch included in the Plus Package P+) . Continue the journey to Lisbon. Tonight, we will have the opportunity to listen to the beautiful Portuguese ‘fados’ while enjoying a delicious dinner (Dinner and fado show included in the Plus Package P+) . Accommodation. Day 9º (Mon): Lisbon Breakfast. In the morning, visit to the beautiful city of Lis- bon at the mouth of the Tagus River. We will explore its main avenues and monuments such as the Belem Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery. Free afternoon, during which we suggest a visit to the nearby towns of Sintra and Cascais, with their villas and palaces. Accommoda- tion. (Visit included in the Plus Package P+) . Day 10º (Tue): Lisbon / Mérida / Seville (648 Km) Buffet breakfast. Departure towards the Spanish border, stopping in Mérida. Free time for lunch. (Lunch included in the Plus Package P+) .
